reflections

My art reflections:

The main thing i learned during the creation of my first self portrait, is that i love pastels!!! The portrait was about three ft. by four ft. and it was made using pastels only. I created it based on a pic during my fourth period art 2 class. It didnt turn out exactly perfect but it still made me proud. it was sort of hard blending different colors to  produce different shades of the same color... but i made it work... if there is one thing i learned its to not be afraid to use your fingers they make the best tool. my goal next time is to use make it more porportional. lol

This week i have had two prodjects to do, one based on color and the other on emotion. For my emotion project i did a self portrait of on of the "happy days" from my life being the night of junior prom. For this i painted on canvas measuring about 2 ft by 3 ft with acrylic I love doing self portraits but im not as succesful at them as i wish but i dont think it turned out bad for only being my third major self portrait. The color project was appx. 1ft by 3 feet i again used acrylic paint for spelling "color" out... then i splatter painted the background with water color... i never tryed watercolor splattering and i found it very successful in getting the look i was going for. I will definately use that technique again in further projects.

For a class project one day in class each of the students of art 4 were given a wooden whale to "artify" for mine i used acrylic white paint as a base then stamped it with stamps i made with rubber... it read "love and beliefe" and looked very cute, and girly. :)

This past week ive been working on a conservation prodject for a local aquarium... for this i chose to make a lion fish in which i titled "the fierce lionfish" i made it of cardboard, an old boogieboard, the seat of a stool, plastic forks, and bandage wrap. I painted it with acrylic paint, im truly lookin forward to doin more sculptures.

Recently ive done a project made with one thing... for this i used soap... i shreaded carved and shaped the soap to make a checkers game... its not the first time ive carved soap... and im sure its definately not the last. ;)

2nd art reflection:
On feb. 10th my most recent works were displayed at a benifit concerto at my school. Here id like to talk about my favorite, titled "The Lord" it was made from six pieces of mat board each measuring about 4inchs by 5inchs each one was decorated using a different media... and when put together the six pieces relay a picture of.. "The Lord" what do you know? I thoroughly enjoyed this prodject i'm going to redo the last two piece because the shades of red and black were not dark enough to match the others made from: cuts of magazines, lanyard string, beads, and acrilic paint. These things gave the picture a textured look which i like. So now that i know what to fix i will move on to that right now... so ttyl. :)

Just recently my art 4 class has participated in a costal conservation project in which we all must make sculptures using only recycables or natural items... for this I constructed a lionfish with cardboard and plastic forks. this project went even better than i imagined i painted i with acrylic and tempera paint and it was awsome!!! Then for a project to inspire someone i painted a childrens acoustic guitar. first i spay painted i yellow then wrote"live to love" on the back and polka dotted i it looked realy cool...

Recently my art class was asked to make something egyptian for an eguptian play we were having at my school... for this project i chose to do an egyptian box... it is not finished yet it has to be kilned then painted then kilned again but its a good work in progress.

This week ive had multiple projects... a flower painting, a portrait, and a harley davidson logo painting. both the flower and the harley projects were painted with acrylic paint and are appx. 2ft. by 3ft. and the portrait was drawn and shaded with a regular #2 pencil... i do like all of the projects but they all need a little more work to be completed.

This grading period i was told to make something inspiring... I wasnt quiet sure what to make but i had an old kids guitar that needed to be painted so i got on it ... i wrote the inspiration on the back "live to love"  and polka dotted  it... it looked really cute... :)
